Neighborly Cooperation: Promoting Peace through Transboundary Water Management

On behalf of SHUKOS and SHUKALB, (National member of the EWA), we are pleased to invite you to join the 12th Balkans Joint Conference and Exhibition to be held on 5 – 7 November, 2024, in Prishtina, Kosova, at Emerald Hotel.

The theme of the Conference “Neighborly Cooperation: Promoting Peace through Transboundary Water Management”, is inspired by World Water Day 2024, and highlights the pivotal role water plays in fostering peace and stability. It emphasizes the intricate connection between water, peace, and sustainable development, stressing the necessity for collective efforts to tackle water challenges and cultivate a more peaceful and resilient world.

Transboundary water cooperation holds particular importance in the Western Balkans, considering the historical tensions and conflicts. The topic is especially significant for countries in this area, where competition over shared water resources has sometimes intensified these tensions.  By focusing on collaborative water management, our countries can build trust, enhance regional cooperation, and establish frameworks for sustainable development that benefit all parties involved.

The Balkans Joint Conference and Exhibition has firmly established itself as a premier knowledge-sharing and networking event within the Western Balkans water sector. Drawing an audience of over 500 participants from across the Greater Balkans Region, the Conference consistently provides a dynamic platform for water professionals, policymakers, and industry experts to convene. Attendees engage in meaningful discussions on pressing issues, exchange valuable information, and share their diverse experiences. This collaborative environment fosters innovation and promotes the continuous development of the water supply and wastewater sectors throughout the Greater Balkans Region.

In addition, the Organizing Committee has planned in parallel, a large Equipment, Technology, and Services Exhibition. This expansive exhibition will feature participation from a diverse array of private sector companies actively engaged in the water sector throughout the Balkans Region. Attendees will have the unique opportunity to explore the latest innovations, cutting-edge technologies, and advanced services that are shaping the future of water management.
