The European Water Association (EWA) has decided to honour Professor José Saldanha Matos with the prestigious Honorary Membership of the association.
Wendy Francken received the baton of the EWA Presidency for the period 2023-2025 from her predecessor Raymond Erpelding during the annual EWA Council Meeting held in Antwerp after the EWA/VLARIO Spring Conference. Harsha Ratnaweera from the Norwegian Water Association started his mandate as vice president.
This year winner of the prestigious William Dunbar Medal is Professor Jörg E. Drewes from Germany. He is being recognized for his outstanding contribution in the water sector as an expert in advanced water treatment, emerging contaminants, water reuse, and public health protection. The award will be handed at IFAT Munich the world's leading trade fair for water, sewage, waste and raw materials management.
At the annual EWA Council Meeting held online during the 40 years Anniversary Celebration of the Association, the aspiring EWA President, Raymond Erpelding received the baton of the EWA Presidency for the period 2021-2023 from his predecessor Bjørn Kaare Jensen from the Danish Water Forum (2019-2021). Wendy Francken from VLARIO, was elected new Vice President.
On World Water Day 2021, the European Water Association (EWA) draws attention to current challenges for water management in Europe and makes proposals for sustainable solutions to these. EWA calls upon civil society and all relevant stakeholders to contribute to implementation of such solutions, and EWA encourages the permanent dialogue between the decision makers and the national and regional authorities.
