Date 19.11.2024
Location Brussels, Belgium

What future for the water sector after the European Elections?

“Water is a vital shared resource to be passed down from generation to generation - essential for people, for the environment and for a just, sustainable, and resilient economy.”[1]

2024 marks a year for Europe to pivot in important ways toward a more sustainable, resilient future for its water sector. It is also the year of the next EU Parliamentary Election that will influence the next Commission composition and its priorities.

The 18th EWA Brussels conference will discuss the future of the water sector after the European Elections. It will allow the participants to hear more about:

  • Climate change and its impact on the water sector
  • The Urban Waste Water Treatement Directive Recast
  • The future of the Water Framework directive
  • Join a Roundtable on the Future of the water sector with representatives from various EU Institutions

This year speakers would offer a mix of EU Institutions representatives, EWA National Members sharing their experiences on the ground as well as EWA Corporate and Research Members sharing their best practices and feedback. It will be a platform to exchange among relevant water stakeholders from the policy makers to the end users.
