Water Qualification in Europe – the challenges ahead

The water sector in Europe is not only facing new challenges due to Climate change but also facing the questions on how to attract and keep new employees in the sector.

This Session will focus on the upcoming challenges affecting the water sector in term of employee’s qualifications and how to match the theoretical knowledge with the needs from the sector. Participants will be able to hear several best examples on several levels inside the European Union. We will start with a European approach and how to deal with the new requirements, especially from the Urban Wastewater treatment Directive recast. Best practice sharing will also be on the agenda with presentation of Digital Water Curricular designs by the Erasmus Plus Project DIGIWATER. Regional cooperation in term of qualification will focus on the Danube Learning Partnership project. The national level will be represented by a presentation on the new German Environmental Technologists Curricular. Finally, the impact of Skill Competitions in the Water Sector will conclude this session before a discussion between the audience and the presenters.
