Water Association Finland visits DWA

A delegation of 35 persons from the Water Association Finland visited the German Water Association (DWA) on Friday September 6, 2013. This was part of a 4 day technical visit to Germany, whereby the group also visited the Cologne wastewater treatment plant and the Wahnbachtalsperre Water Supply Plant in Siegburg, among others.

Water Association Finland, founded in 1969, is a non-governmental body with about 500 individual members and 20 corporate members. The aim of the association is to improve and distribute knowledge and promote professional networking in Finland and abroad.

The DWA is also a non-government, non-profit organisation with about 14,000 individual and corporate members, of which 800 are from 55 countries outside of Germany. The Finnish group had the opportunity to share experiences and Know-How, to learn about the structure of the DWA, how it functions as an association, its members, its history, the services offered inside and outside of Germany (e.g. the development of rules and standards, training programmes) and the profile of the German water sector.

Both the DWA and the Water Association Finland are members of the European Water Association. The EWA encourages its members to liaise with other member associations, to share experiences and develop stronger cooperation.
