The 16th International Symposium at the IFAT ENTSORGA


Symposium on Sustainable Water Management

IFAT ENTSORGA – the world’s leading trade fair for the water, sewage, refuse and recycling - will open for the 17th time on the premises of the New Trade Fair in Munich. From 08 – 09 May 2012 the visitors will be offered an international programme with a wide variety of topics: The European Water Association (EWA), the German Association for Water, Wastewater and Waste (DWA), the Association of Local Utilities (VKU) and the International Solid Waste Association (ISWA) are jointly inviting the visitors of IFAT to the 16th International Symposium on “Water, Wastewater, Solid Waste, Energy”. During the joint event there will be two Symposiums; on Sustainable Water Management and on Sustain-able Solid Waste Management. A so-called “Municipal Day” will also be held during IFAT. There will be no entrance fee for the visitors of the fair.

Symposium on Sustainable Water Management

On 08 and 09 May 2012, EWA – supported by the DWA– will host the Symposium on Sustainable Water Management with the title “New Solutions for New Problems”. 16 presentations will be held on the subjects of “Impact of Demographic Changes on Urban Water Systems”, “Energy Efficiency of Wastewater Treatment Plants”, and “Wastewater Treatment Technologies for Improved Effluent Quality”.

Symposium on Sustainable Solid Waste Management

On 7, 8 and 10 May 2012, the VKU, the ISWA, and the DWA will host another Symposium on Sustainable Solid Waste Management. 20 experts will present the topics “Resource Protection through Valorisation of Municipal Waste”, “Sustainable Management of Municipal Bio-waste”, and “Winterservices and Street Cleaning”.

The Municipal Day

At the Municipal Day on 7 May 2012 under the motto “Flood Prevention and New Energy Concepts in the Municipal Focus”, there will be a forum for mayors and interested participants. The event offers seven presentations and will be hosted by the EWA, the DWA, the Council of European Municipalities (CCRE CMRE), the German Conference of Local Authorities (Deutscher Städtetag), the German Association of Counties (Deutscher Landkreistag), the German Association of Cities and Towns (Deutscher Städte- und Gemeindebund).
