SANITATION APPROACHES AND SOLUTIONS AND THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS

The EWA-APESB Joint Conference is arranged under the auspices of the Portuguese Association for Sanitation and Environmental Engineering (APESB) and the EWA in cooperation with the Centre for Civil Engineering, Research and Innovation for Sustainability of the Instituto Superior Técnico at the University of Lisbon. 

The Conference will focus upon sanitation systems covering the full range of alternatives from high- to low-tech options and from decentralised to centralised solutions. The event intends to make proven technology available with the ultimate aim of deceiving more sustainable and affordable wastewater systems.

Recovery and safe use of resources from wastewater streams will also be important topics, opening up new possibilities towards a more bio-based economic growth, through the use of valuable resources embedded in wastewater streams are promoting business possibilities and job opportunities.

Invited key-notes speakers are: Alexander Bakalian, from the World Bank, and Osward Ochanda, from the African Development Bank.
